New pattern policy & some musings

I'm just going to start off with the main news first. I'm thinking that each time I introduce a new pattern (the day I actually make it available for purchase) I'm going to offer one pattern free.

The catch is, you have to comment (and only comment once), on the specific post for that pattern and I'll use the random number generator to pick one of you to send a free pattern to.  Sound good?

I understand the necessity of introducing new patterns, but I always feel a little huckster-ish when I haven't posted about anything in a while, and the Bam! "Hey, here's a new pattern to buy!".  I know that's not really the case, as a lot of you who support me :) actually want to know about new patterns.  I'm just still somewhat uncomfortable with that aspect of my little business.

SO, in an effort to assuage my feelings regarding self-promotion, from this point on I'm going to give away a free pattern each time a new one is released. I'm not sure how many days I'll leave the comments open, maybe like 3 or 4, I'm still not sure about that. But I think by the time I get these new patterns out this month, I'll have a better idea of the plan!

Also, I get questions from time to time about how I do certain things, and I have plans to expand on my answers and hopefully get them organized here on the blog for easier access, and quick referral.  Are there any burning questions you have for me that you'd like to have answered? I have a small list going of ones that I plan on getting to, but I'm willing to add more to the list if there's enough of a demand.

To all the visitors from the Craftzine blog :) I hope you like my little pattern!

It's always one of my favorites to read, and was quite a surprise to see my little Sleepy Sarah in my reader yesterday. I'm hoping this post will work- I've been reading on everyone's blogs how typepad is acting up for them and hadn't experienced it until yesterday. 

I'm working on a little lion, and used a new 8 GB compact flash card and am having some issues getting the images to open on my computer.  Good times.  Hopefully I can get it all worked out tomorrow but we'll see, I have a little sickie who is extra clingy so I'm expecting to spend lots more time just holding her tomorrow.

Hope you and yours are doing a lot better than us!

Hi all, I'm so glad you're liking Sleepy Sarah.  I'd forgotten to mention what the actual pattern deal was over at my Etsy shop- I'm offering any 4 patterns for $15.  It ends up being a pretty good deal, especially if you decide to go for the more expensive patterns!

So if you're interested, just look for the listing with these two in it, and let me know what 4 patterns you'd like.

Also, remember those felt flowers that I made last spring? I'm also working on the tutorial for that, so look for it in a couple of weeks.  I actually have the templates made for around 4 different ones, but I haven't actually made any more flowers :)

By the way, has anyone who has the Sarita pattern ever had any trouble printing page 3 of it?  There's been an issue that's come up recently and I was wondering if it affected anyone else as well?

Another aside, my uncle ended up passing away yesterday morning.  While it's tremendously sad, and we'll all miss him terribly, I do appreciate that the pain that he was experiencing wasn't prolonged.

Thank you to everyone who participated and for all of your suggestions, I read them all and have been considering the pros and cons of each.

I've still not decided where I'm going to list my books, look for that in later posts as I start uploading images of all the books I'll be offering, along with scans of a couple of pages of each book.

I do plan on listing them on July 1, 2008, the time will be Pacific Standard Time, but there's another thing I'm not sure of.  I need to look at our calendar to see when I'm actually going to have some time to do it on that day :)
