Almost ready... a Rabbit girl & some Valentine hearts

For my little girl who, whenever is pretending to be animals with her daddy and brother, *always* chooses to be a rabbit.

I'm almost finished typing the pattern, I just needed to take her picture, and tweak some illustrations.  I still haven't decided on her name yet, and I made her head slightly bigger than the other costumed kids. 

I've also  been working on a quick little heart, it's going to be a free pattern and I'm almost finished with it.  Once I decided on the decreases it ended up being a really fast little project.  It's also really easy to make smaller.  I haven't measured it yet, but the largest one is 50 sts at it's widest point, the middle one is 40, the smallest is 30, I could probably make one as small as 20 sts, but I've run out of things for my kids to do in the meantime :)

Also, the humps are slightly different on each heart, I'll explain that more tomorrow.  I think I like the spacing on the largest  one the best, but I'm giving options.  I also put some 6 mm craft eyes in the smallest one because my little boy wanted a happy face on it. 

Anyhoo, I've got to get, I want to finish up both patterns by tomorrow.  To make matters worse, I've joined Facebook at the suggestions of a good friend and also my brother in law, and boy, it can take a lot of time if you aren't careful!  I'm still learning my way around there, but it's fun seeing who has kids now and whose doing what.

It's always one of my favorites to read, and was quite a surprise to see my little Sleepy Sarah in my reader yesterday. I'm hoping this post will work- I've been reading on everyone's blogs how typepad is acting up for them and hadn't experienced it until yesterday. 

I'm working on a little lion, and used a new 8 GB compact flash card and am having some issues getting the images to open on my computer.  Good times.  Hopefully I can get it all worked out tomorrow but we'll see, I have a little sickie who is extra clingy so I'm expecting to spend lots more time just holding her tomorrow.

Hope you and yours are doing a lot better than us!

By the way, has anyone who has the Sarita pattern ever had any trouble printing page 3 of it?  There's been an issue that's come up recently and I was wondering if it affected anyone else as well?

Well, I wanted to thank all you loyal readers and customers by offering a free pattern.  I wanted it to be similar to my regular patterns, but also be a tad simpler so it's kind of like a practice run.

This one is for a baby so I wanted to make more of a Waldorf shaped baby, simple and sweet.  With this little doll, you can leave it faceless, or embroider a little face.  The yarn was chosen by the mama of the baby that I was making this doll for and while I liked the color, it was a bit too squeaky for regular use.

I'll add it to Ravelry and make it easier to retrieve too by adding as one of my pages.

fun projects to remember, and a bit of regular life

That google reader is both a blessing and a curse! I guess subscribing to a gazillion blogs doesn't help either, but my crafting has gone by the wayside of late.  I don't think it's completely the fault of my blog reading obsession, but maybe also because we're trying to all get on board with a new sleeping schedule since my little boy started preschool this week. 

PRESCHOOL!  Not a big deal for some, but HUGE for me.  Since he was born, I've gone back and forth on the merits of homeschooling, public school and private school and as the impending date of his school age came closer I'd just been driving myself crazy over it.  We've decided at this time, what's best for him is what we're doing, and he LOVES it so far.  And when next fall rolls around, there's an elementary school nearby that we'll probably be enrolling him in.  He's so into everything science and animals that we think the program will be a good fit for him- it's an Environmental Science magnate school. Some friends of ours had their kids at that school and they really loved it, and from everything they've said about it, it's really sounding like a good fit for our little guy, so as long as we're still living where we do now, that's the plan. 

Now, onto the part about what I want to remember- fun crafty stuff.

I'd seen this idea over at Craftzine's blog about making butterfly shaped crayons using a cookie cutter that they got from Daily Danny.  Then from someone else (sorry, I don't remember!) I found this idea at Let's Explore of making a crayon alphabet- neat huh!  The molds they used are by Sillycone and can be purchased in their store, or pre-ordered at amazon. On the Sillycone website they also have a list of retail and online stores where you can purchase the molds, and what's neat is that they're going to be offering a symbol mold soon too!

I'm always wanting to attemp the freezer paper stenciling and never feel quite comfortable enough. This may change with PanjoKids tutorial, for some reason, I totally understand this one!  Then she suggested going over to Sycamore Stirrings to see potholders made from her kids artwork which I did and love! geez, more blogs to subscribe to.

And for fun, a free Molly Monkey pattern from mmmcrafts.  Cute.

Okay, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom is just about over now, so back to being mama.

PS My little guy thinks that Marlin Perkins was just the greatest guy ever, and wants to be him when he grows up!

Cinco de Mayo- Free Pattern Day

Hi everyone, for some reason I was composing posts all weekend long, and yet, none of them actually made it to the computer. Anyway, since the weekend always seems to fly by, and Mondays are always extra tiring with trying to reestablish my little one's schedules I'm giving away a free pattern.
