I've not really had much time the past couple of months to sit and relax and crochet. I did finish up two dolls for Plush You!- I made a mermaid and a bear boy.

I used Malabrigo kettle dyed worsted in Hollyhock for the mermaid's tail, Lamb’s Pride wool in roasted coffee & Paton’s silk bamboo in bark for the hair, TLC cotton plus for the skin, wool felt for the shells, 9mm safety eyes, and DMC satin embroidery floss for the shells & the seaweed that ties her hair back.

We'd gone out to Huntington beach for the day, so while the kids played, I got to finish up the embroidery, weave in all the ends and take some fun pictures.

I knew I wanted to do a mermaid and in a different color than the original, but took a while to decide on what color I actually wanted to do. I REALLY like the color I ended up using- it's Malabrigo kettle dyed worsted in Hollyhock, and while I thought there was more purple in it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's more of a magenta. Then this time around I embroidered the scales on the tail with a satin embroidery floss.

The little bear boy was made with Cascade 220 wool for the skin, Lamb’s Pride (in brown bear) wool for the body, 9mm safety eyes & DMC embroidery floss for the hair.

The color is a little off in the first picture, the one with the two of the bears is a more accurate representation. I wanted to take a picture with the Malabrigo bear from my pattern for scale- the only difference in the two bears was the brown yarn, and I went down a size with my crochet hook, but it made a noticeable difference. Nevertheless, he makes a cute little brother :)
I hadn't noticed how long it'd been since I last posted, but I'll try to update more often, especially now that the summer is winding down and *sniff, sniff* my little boy is starting Kindergarten on Tuesday. Once our routine is set I should have time to set time aside to crochet all the pattern ideas I have floating around in my head!
